An Open Letter To…

Story by Steve Zongker As we wind up the 2016 racing season, and most journalists are posting their end of season articles, I’ve decided to create an “Open Letter To:” various series, drivers, owners, networks, and journalists in hopes that we can create an even better 2017 season. To FOX Sports: NASCAR & UFC are not the only sports in town. Please stop cutting out our WEC, Formula E, and other motorsports (especially in the later hours of the evening) to show us re-runs of UFC weigh-ins, and the latest NASCAR talking head show. To NBCSN: Thank you for...

Deep in the Heart of (COTA) Texas

Story by Steve Zongker. Most everyone remembers that song, made famous by the 1942 movie of the same name. The stars at night are big and bright Deep in the heart of Texas The prairie sky is wide and high Deep in the heart of Texas I think the airport in Austin, TX (home of Circuit of the Americas), puts the song in a low frequency so you start to hum the song in your head immediately dis-embarking from the airplane.   By Steve Zongker As a die-hard racing fan, this past weekend was one of the superb weekends to just cozy up to the sofa and TV, and get your fill of racing. The Indycars, Weather Tech SportsCar Championship, and Pirelli World Challenge were all in Long Beach, CA. The FIA World Endurance Championship began their season at Silverstone in the UK, Formula 1 was in Shanghai China, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series were in the Bristol TN “Coliseum”. Fortunately, the racing gods smiled upon us and staggered the racing over the entire weekend. I spent...

DeltaWing Looks Toward Rolex 24

By Steve Zongker As the calendar rolls over into a new year, racing fans begin to wake out of their winter slumber. This year’s sports car off-season seemed to have more news than usual. From driver rankings, to Balance of Performance (BoP), to new cars being developed, and even teams switching series. Everything seemed to indicate that whatever series you followed, new and interesting topics would be taking place during the 2015 “Roar Before the 24” at Daytona International Speedway in Florida. A little background about me, my name is Steve ( and I am a racing junkie pure...
