Just the Way I See It: 12 Hours of Sebring

Story and photo by Vickie Miller This past weekend was the 64th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, or fondly just known as “Sebring”. The racing series participating included the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (WTSC), Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (CTSC), Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge (GT3 Cup), Prototype Lites (Lites), and the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR).  Absent was the Mazda MX-5 Cup series which attended last year’s Sebring race weekend. On Wednesday evening, I enjoyed a walk around the track with race friends Katie Mech and Abby Goodwin.  The track walk provides drivers an opportunity to get an up-close look...

Just the Way I See It: Roar Before the 24

Story and photo by Vickie Miller This past weekend was the “Roar Before the 24” at Daytona International Speedway with the Ferrari Challenge cars first on track starting on Thursday, January 7 (which wasn’t on the IMSA official schedule due to continuing the tradition of not combing all the race series attending the event onto one schedule just to irritate me again this year. Don’t even get me started on the spelling errors on the entry list. Well done.) The cars on track from Friday through Sunday were the IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) series...

Story by Vickie Miller. Photo by Serena Panzeri While Bahrain was never on my vacation bucket list, when I saw the last WEC race on the 2015 season would be at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), I was intrigued. Late summer, I started planning to attend with my friend, Serena who was my driver for the weekend and provided the Strakka Racing car photograph used in this article. We picked a hotel, reserved a rental car, booked flights landing within an hour of each other, applied for a travel VISA, and started to get excited. Here’s the racing recap. While...

Just the Way I See It: IMSA at COTA

Story and photo by Vickie Miller By my calculations, this was my seventh trip to Circuit of the Americas (COTA), which in the past has included two F1 races, V8 SuperCars, Grand Am, and the Pirelli World Challenge. Yes, it’s Texas and it’s always hot, but every visit to this track has brought a different level of racing excitement due to the variety of race series and allowing all levels of competition. Now let’s chat about the track. According to Vickiapedia, the short fast journey from start/finish up and around turn one is the best in auto racing. Due...
